Yes, you read that right! We are getting a Vizsla!!

For those who know me, you’ve probably experienced at least a few of my “Oh look! That’s a Vizsla!” moments while walking or driving with me. For a very long time, getting a Vizsla didn’t seem possible for many reasons.

I started seriously considering a Vizsla a few years ago. I dedicated myself to learning everything I could about Vizslas – researching the breed, understanding how to find a reputable breeder, and reaching out to breeders. Many responded with extensive emails explaining why a Vizsla might not be the right breed for us as first-time owners. At that point, it felt like having a Vizsla was not in the cards for us…

We took a step back but eventually attended a dog show a breeder had recommended. A few other dog shows followed, and during this research and education phase, we met so many incredibly knowledgeable Vizsla owners and breeders who generously shared their insights. By August/September 2024, we connected with a wonderful breeder who felt like the perfect match for us. A few months later her female had her heat and a few weeks later we received the confirmation that she was pregnant with her first litter. We were over the moon!

The puppies were born on December 15th and are thriving! Their mama is a star and has been doing an amazing job as a first-time mom.

We are absolutely over the moon about what life will look like with our little Vizsla and cannot wait to share our journey as first-time Vizsla owners with others who might be considering this incredible breed. Stay tuned for updates – our adventure is just beginning!

If you’re in the same position we were in back then, don’t let that discourage you from pursuing your dream of getting a Vizsla. Put in the work, educate yourself, and attend as many dog shows as you can – you’ll not only learn so much about the breed but also meet incredible people who are passionate about Vizslas and happy to share their knowledge.
